Armas Taipale was a discus thrower from Finland who won three Olympic medals. His most successful run was at the Stockholm 1912 Games, where he won gold in the discus throw and in an event which does not exist anymore in the Olympics, the 2-handed discus throw.
Taipale reached 45.21m which put him comfortably in first position to take gold, ahead of Americans Richard Leslie Byrd (42.32m) and James Henry Duncan (42.28m).
